Dear Maresa

Since my email of 17/10/11 regarding ecological conditions for the above site, I have spoken to Joe Jackson of Lizard Landscape, and a summary of that conversation is included in the email chain below.

I can confirm that with the information now provided, I am satisfied that measures to ensure the conservation of protected species (specifically bats, reptiles, amphibians and nesting birds) have been carried out such that those conditions can be discharged. I am also satisfied that some ecological enhancement measures have been incorporated into the works.

Please let me know if you need any further information.

Kind regards

Kate

Dear Mike

Heron Park School – Report Issue

Ecological Mitigation Measures - Planning Conditions

Please find attached a digital PDF copy of our updated Ecological Mitigation Measures Report.

Following our discussion with Kate Cole - Ecologist ESCC we have confirmed the following ecological planning conditions;

Planning Condition No. 3 – Destructive Search for Reptiles and Amphibians supervised by a Suitably Qualified Ecologist;

A Destructive Search of the Grassland / Habitat adjacent to the drain was undertaken on the 28 June 2011 prior to the commencement of development under the supervision of an experienced Ecologist; Mr Mark Vivian, and no Protected Species of Reptiles or Amphibians were found to be present.  The habitat was considered to be sub-optimal for Reptiles and Amphibians being predominantly short cut grass.

Planning Condition No. 11 – Shed and Footpath Removal - Destructive Search for Reptiles and Amphibians supervised by a Suitably Qualified Ecologist;

The vegetation surrounding the existing shed and footpath was also subject to a Destructive Search on the 28 June 2011, and no protected species of Reptiles or Amphibian were found to be present in this area.  The Shed and Footpath, due to the surrounding vegetation were retained in position until late September 2011 when the active Bird nesting season was considered to be past.  The shed and footpath were removed in late September 2011.

Planning Condition No. 12 – Bats – Inspection of Trees with Bat Interest by a Suitably Qualified Ecologist;

A Bat Roost Assessment of the existing trees requiring Tree Surgery works was undertaken by an experienced Bat Surveyor on the 28 June 2011 prior to the commencement of tree surgery works under the supervision of an experienced Ecologist. Within the branches of the existing Willow tree overhanging the development site, proposed to be crown-reduced, there were no features of interest for Roosting Bats found to be present, and the Tree Surgery works could proceed unhindered.

Planning Condition No. 13 – Details of Measures to Enhance the Ecological Interest of the Site.

Measures to enhance the Ecological Interest within the site have been included within the attached report.

The report is issued ‘For Approval’.  Please contact me should you have any comments.

Please contact me should you require any further information.

Kind regards,
