Subject: Re Planning Application- HS/3510/CC
To Whomever this may concern,
I am writing in relation to the above planning application.
Myself and my husband have looked at the full plans in detail several times on your website. Whilst we are not against the renovation and extension of the Hollington Youth Hub as a whole. In fact we mainly view the suggested improvements as having a positive impact on the local community.
We do have significant concerns regarding our privacy within our home. The main aspects that concern us are the amount and size of windows that will be facing directly towards our flat. These will be on a direct eye level with our flat and allow people to view straight into our front room. We already have an element of this with the current community bar. However, they have smaller windows and it is not in use daily.
As I'm sure you can imagine, after working hard all week we do like to enjoy relaxing in our home at the weekend. We shouldn't have to feel that when we get up in the morning that we can't open our curtains for fear of people seeing us walking around in our pyjamas in our front room. Whilst I'm sure the users of the facilities have no interest in deliberately looking directly into our front room. Any movement that catches the human eye- automatically causes the eye to switch focus. The thought of having all of those windows directly facing us gives us the feeling of living in a human zoo. Taking away the relaxation of being at home.
Other than being aesthetically pleasing to the building design I'm unsure how the windows facing our front room will be contributing to the positive impact of the Hollington Youth Hub as a whole, except to provide users with a view of the buildings and lives of people opposite.
There are other ways to ensure that the new building has light. Perhaps by the use of lightwells, sky wells or air shafts. Perhaps the end of the extension that will face the community bar could have floor to ceiling windows. This way the building will receive natural light and not face directly into someone's front room.
The secondary concern that I have is parking.in the area. I have read the Transport Statement and believe this to be slightly inaccurate. There was a period of time last year where there were two mini buses parked on the road outside our flats for two- three weeks without any movement.Even though both could have fitted on the driveway opposite . Also it states that there are eight members of staff due to be present at one time that will all use the parking already provided. This is currently- often not the case. We are a one car household and I often come home after work to find parking difficulties. In part due to staff and patrons using the centre, when there are in fact spaces in the car park facilities provided. I normally won't take my car out after 6pm as I won't have anywhere to park when I come home. The reason for this is that it causes me time issues in the morning when leaving for work.
Whilst I understand it is a public highway are there going to be any covenants to protect the residents of the area within the planning application that stipulate that the minibus and staff will need to park in the spaces provided?
Due to the likely increase of patrons that will be using the new facilities that will inevitably require parking.
Many Thanks
