The proposal includes the
installation of a Yurt and a composting "Thunderbox" WC on the land
adjacent to Robertsbridge Community College. |

We object to the above
planning application. Like Mr Cole, we were not consulted although we have a
right of way across the site to Knelle Road. His comments on the site, it's
history and as a paddock and the proposed educational usage is relevant and
mirror our views too. It will have a significant effect on the dwellings
surrounding the site. We question whether there was planning consent for
change of use when the school purchased the paddock in 1998. Thunderbox
toilet - We are very concerned about the erection of this compostable toilet.
With Climate Change, what happens to the soak away when we have the heavy
rainfall we've experienced over the last 6 months. Will it cope? The water
table in our garden was very high and we are worried the soak away will not
work efficiently. We fear rats will be attracted by the smells. We are not
confident that it will be properly maintained in the school holidays when it
is not in use. I understand the forest school will cater for 8 pupils and 2
staff and noise will be kept to a minimum. This has not happened so far! We
are already experiencing lots of noise coming from the children and worry
about the inadequate supervision. Another concern is security. Our back
gardens will be vulnerable to intruders if the site is not secured after use
at the end of the school day. Also how can we be sure that the proposed usage
of the yurt will remain in school term only on Wednesdays, Thursdays and
Fridays during school hours. Finally we note that light pollution will be
kept to a minimum during construction and usage. There is already intense
light pollution from the school security lights which flood the site and
gardens at night. This disturbs any nocturnal animals and bats. |
