What the adopted roads map shows

The map identifies in blue those roads and footpaths where all or part of the road/footpath is a highway that is maintained at public expense.

It only provides information about whether a highway may be publicly maintained and does not include information about whether the adoption covers the whole width of the road, for example whether or not a grass verge is maintained.

If you require information about the exact length or width of the highway, please contact the Highway Land Information Team. Please note that there may be a charge for this information.

Public rights of way as shown on the Definitive Map of Public Rights of Way are not shown on the map.

If the road is within the boroughs of Eastbourne and Hastings, please check with the Highways Team for details of the relevant borough. While this site does show the status of roads in Eastbourne and Hastings, this information may not be up to date and has not been verified by the boroughs.
