I have experience in providing help/care for clients who have Dementia, learning difficulties, visual and auditory impairment and life limiting illnesses. I am interested in providing help with day to day living, household chores and small to medium handyman work. I am also willing to take clients to appointments etc.

I am 47 years old and live with my partner Jo, between us we have four grown up children, two cats, two dogs and a tortoise. I enjoy cooking, walking, reading and DIY.

Two years ago, I was able to care for my Dad who suffered from dementia and a brain tumour. During this time, I realised how important it was to give my Dad the extra support that he and my mum needed.

In the past I worked with blind ex-service men and women, which I found very rewarding. Some of the stories they told were fascinating. During this time, I found out that my great Grandad was a resident at St Dunstan’s after WW1.

I also worked as a class teacher with a small group of children with Special Educational Needs, some of their characteristics made them fun and challenging to be around.

I have had a varied career, firstly, working for my Dad in the plumbing trade. Then, serving 5 years in the Royal Marines. After that, working at St Dunstan’s while I studied and completed my teaching degree.

For several years after this, I taught in various educational settings.

My Dad then became ill with dementia and a brain tumour and I was able to care for him.

I currently drive a minibus for a hospice two days a week, occasionally supply teach and offer a handyman service.
