An area of which I feel as if I have expertise would undoubtedly be working with clients with dementia. Having first-hand experienced how hard it can be for families to adjust their daily lives to accommodate for the care of a loved one. I feel as if my experience can present solutions not only for the client but solutions for family members too, bringing a sense of calm and peace to the environment, I will try different approaches to providing the care based on which approach has the best active response from the client. I offer the best matched feeling of a routine possible for both client and family. I also feel as though I possess a particular compassion and understanding to comfort those who have recently lost a loved one. Dealing with bereavement isn’t easy for anybody so making somebody feel secure enough to open up and share their emotions is a definite strength of mine.

I have a keen interest in offering clients a chance to an out of the ordinary care experience, escorted trips to the cinema, afternoon tea, swimming, theatre, art galleries, live music, group excursions, trips to historical sites, short breaks away with personal care provided. I give clients the opportunity and hands on support to go and accomplish goals they may have previously ruled out.

I am a confident, kind, punctual and hardworking individual, I look to provide dynamic care solutions to match my clients every need. I have 10 year’s professional experience working predominantly with elderly and vulnerable adults. Specialising in dementia care, mental health, self-neglect, physical disabilities and learning disabilities to name a few. I thoroughly enjoy a challenge and have recently been accredited with Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services. I get a great sense of happiness when caring for people and value my position to be allowed into people’s lives to support in any way possible. I love the interaction with clients and often enjoy listening to the client’s choice of music from my phone, whether that be; Frank Sinatra, Jim Reeves or Sister Sledge! I’ve often been told I have a good sense of humour and I believe that laughter is good for the soul! I am a very positive person and like to maintain a positive outlook on life and will go over and above to help people live a happy and fulfilling life.

I started my career in Health and Social care 10 years ago, I have continuously furthered my education and gained qualifications to confirm a solid understanding of the industry.

Initially working as, a care and support worker in the community; quickly being promoted to key worker then Senior Carer. During this time, I worked with elderly and vulnerable adults, young adults with learning disabilities including; downs syndrome, Asperger’s syndrome and ADHD. From this role I gained extensive experience leading a team working in an extra care housing scheme of 45 flats. The unique experience of going to work excited to not only provide the mandatory care needed but working in an environment that felt like home for residents and the staff. Feeling part of a big family and taking care of each other, the clients well-being was paramount in our daily lives. We had time to spend with the residents on a 1-2-1 basis, promoting independence, individuality and companionship. The team provided clients with a dignified and safe service, possessing attributes described as, caring, responsive and effective.

My passion to provide care then led me to want to expand my experience within the industry and I pursued the role of a Care Co-ordinator, whilst co-ordinating I enjoyed working methodically and meticulously to geographically co-ordinate carers in a way that provided clients with regular carers and most importantly regular times. If their regular carer was away, the client would still have a familiar face arrive at the same time and provide the same high standard of personalised care. Eventually earning my promotion to Deputy Manager, there I oversaw the entire workings of the office environment including the co-ordination and supervision of the office staff, senior carers and carers. Equally important responsibilities included liaising with client’s family members, Power of Attorneys, social services, hospital workers, solicitors, therapists, emergency services and other professionals.

I have a proven track record to consistently build up great working relationships with the staff and clients alike. I have carried this energy through from the start of my career in 2008 to the present time and will continue to provide an above satisfactory standard of care by always paying attention to the finer details.
