I am very interested in the positive effects of social opportunities for individuals who may be isolated, or who would like to socialise more-whether this be going out and about to a venue of the individual’s choice, supporting someone to join a club or group or just by chatting and reminiscing in the person’s home.

Through my role at the Carers Breaks and Engagement Team I have gained an awareness of the role of informal carers and the fantastic work that they do. I am passionate about supporting people to continue in their caring roles.

In my own time I love spending time with my two lovely daughters. I like socialising and am also a keen gardener and enjoy ‘pottering’ in my garden at home.

I qualified as a social worker in 2008 and have worked in various adult social care teams including a community learning disability team, and with adults with mental health needs and older people. After a break from social work following the birth of my first child I decided to return to support work as I really enjoy the face to face contact when working with people and found that I didn’t get enough of this in my social work role.

I took up a post as a community support worker with East Sussex County Council for 2 years. I absolutely loved this role as I found I could develop a real rapport with the individual to support and empower them to make changes in their lives, and to pursue stimulating, fun and meaningful occupation and social activities.

I really enjoy getting to know people and hearing about their interesting lives in order to develop the best way to support them to reach their goals and enjoy life. I get a great sense of job satisfaction from support work and would like to continue this in my own capacity as a personal assistant.
BSc Social Work (Hons)- Northumbria University 2008
Post Qualifying Award in Specialist Social Work with Adults-Teesside University 2011.

I have worked in Social Care for over 12 years. I am registered as a social worker with the HCPC (Health and Care Professionals Council).
