Experience
The knowledge and experience I bring to working as a Personal Assistant comes from being a daughter, mother, wife and carer as well as working in healthcare settings.
A family member lived with dementia for many years. I provided on-going support for both her and her husband. I provided emotional and practical support, helping them remain at home together for as long as possible.
I have been and am a carer for a disabled family member who has needed support for many years.
Background
I have worked in an NHS Occupational Therapy Clinic setting. A few years later I gained experience working as a Care Assistant in a nursing home.
I have also worked in the learning support.
I worked for the Alzheimer's Society for over 5 years, working as a Dementia Support Worker within the (NHS) Memory Assessment and Support Team (MAST). This post further enhanced my knowledge of dementia, I worked alongside Nurses, Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists and Social Workers and other agencies I provided support at Memory Clinics for diagnosis to patients and carers.
I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor and worked for Cruse Bereavement Care for six years.
I have worked in mental health and supported housing, supporting residents to develop their knowledge and skills to then live independently in the community.
I work in a person centred way, every day is different, we are all unique, our needs constantly change. My previous roles enable me to help people adapt to their changing needs.
